2016: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra start texting

Chopra told Vogue that Jonas reached out to her on Twitter, suggesting they go out on a date.

"I'm hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet," he recalled writing in 2016.

Chopra gave Jonas her number, and the two soon began a texting relationship, which Jonas described to Vogue as "friendly with an eye toward flirtation."

The pair then met in person for the first time in 2017 at the Vanity Fair Oscars party — where Jonas got down on one knee.

"This is in front of a bunch of people," he recalled. "I say, 'You're real. Where have you been all my life?' Like, loud."

A week before attending the 2017 Met Gala together as Ralph Lauren's guests, Chopra and Jonas first linked up when they grabbed a drink at The Carlyle in N.Y.C.

Chopra invited Jonas back to her apartment (where her mother was home watching Law &a
